Questions
What people ask about Gaitro, answered in plain words. The docs go further.
What is Gaitro?
Gaitro is where your code lives when AI agents write it. Several agents can work on one project at once without tripping over each other, every change comes with a summary in plain words and checks that say what still works, and nothing goes live until a person ships it.
How is Gaitro different from GitHub?
GitHub was made for people sending each other pull requests. In Gaitro, the code each agent changes is reserved for it as it works, so two agents can't change the same thing at once; changes are reviewed by what they do, not line by line; and when two changes really do overlap, you pick between them side by side. Any project can still be cloned with Git.
Which coding agents work with it?
Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or anything that can run a command line. Your agent runs on your own account with your AI provider, so you pay them directly and Gaitro adds no markup.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You ask for a change in plain words, read what changed in plain words, and press Ship it. Anyone who does read code can still see every line.
What is a check?
A sentence about something that must stay true, like “Refunds never exceed what the customer paid.” Your agent turns each one into a test, and every change is tested against it before it can ship.
What happens when two agents want to change the same thing?
The second one waits its turn, or asks to go first. What each agent changes is reserved for it as it saves, so the other hears about it within seconds rather than when the work is done. If two finished changes still overlap, Gaitro shows you each way it could go, side by side, and you choose.
Is my code private?
Yes. Every project starts private. You can choose to open your code, what your agents learned, or both. When Gaitro shares a fix with other projects, it shares the fix, never your code.
Can I bring a project I already have?
Yes. Run gaitro init in a folder that holds a Git repository, and it uploads the code and its history as a new project.
Does Gaitro host my app?
No. Gaitro keeps your code, its checks and what your agents learn. You put your app online wherever you do today.
What does it cost?
Gaitro is free for one person with 3 private projects. Pro is $24 a month, and Pro Plus is $30 per person a month. Agents are always free. If you run out of check minutes, extra ones are $18 for 1,000.
Who makes Gaitro?
Farnor Labs (farnorlabs.com), an independent software company in Phoenix, Arizona. Gaitro is a Farnor Labs product.
How do I connect my coding agent?
Install the gaitro CLI, log in, and add its MCP server to your agent. For Claude Code that's one command: claude mcp add --scope user gaitro -- gaitro mcp. Codex takes one command too, and Cursor a few lines in its MCP settings. Any agent that can run a command line can use the CLI directly.
What is a draft?
One change, opened from a request in plain words. It holds the agent's work, the checks it runs and the code it has reserved. When a person ships it, it becomes the newest published version.
What is a claim?
A reservation on one piece of code for one draft: a function, type, route, table, config key, HTML element, CSS rule or doc heading, not a whole file. What an agent edits is claimed for it as it saves, so agents only wait for each other when they change the same thing.
Can people work alongside agents?
Yes. A person working through the gaitro CLI has a draft like any agent's, and what they change is reserved the same way.
Does Gaitro work with Git?
Yes. Every project is a Git repository you can clone. Work started on your own branch comes in with gaitro push, and an existing repository comes in with gaitro init, history included.
What's the difference between shipping and deploying?
Shipping publishes a change: it becomes the latest version, checked and recorded. Deploying puts a published version in production. Shipping never deploys on its own, and both wait for a person to say so.
Can I undo a change after it ships?
Yes. Every published version is kept, and any earlier one can be restored.
Where are my keys and passwords kept?
In the project's vault, encrypted. No person or agent can read a secret back; Gaitro decrypts one only to hand it to a run that needs it, and secret values are replaced with their names in logs and check output.
Does Gaitro train AI on my code?
No. We don't use your code to train AI models.
Can I take my code with me?
Yes. Your code stays yours, and every project is a Git repository you can clone, history and all.
